with a national humanitarian award for the work she does for a group
of underprivileged women in Thailand. |
Winnie
Cain is a massage therapist licensed since 1984. She is
also an international instructor and a member of the American Massage
Therapy Association. Her specialty is Thai massage which she has
been teaching since 1994, and in which she has over 1000 hours of
training. She is one of the first teachers of Thai massage in the
U.S., and the first to teach Thai massage in Arizona.
Winnie is also president and founder of the Akha
Women's Foundation, a non-profit 501C3 corporation that benefits
the underprivileged women of Thailand.
Winnie has traveled and trained throughout China and Thailand since
1987. Among the many places she has studied are:
• ITM in Chiang Mai
• Thai Massage-Baan Nit in Chiang Mai
• Old Medicine Traditional Hospital in Chiang Mai
• Lek Chaiya
• Wat Po Traditional Medical School in Bangkok
In 1996, Winnie returned to Thailand for a six-month educational
tour. While there, she lived and studied with the hilltribe people.
